OLD NEWS

April 18, 2006 : It has been a few months since we have taken the time to update this site. Things have been incredibly busy for all of us due to school, work, and other music commitments. We have a few shows lined up for the next couple of months and we are anxiously waiting for our two split 7”s to come out this summer (see Discography page). In the meantime, Barricades is being repressed on vinyl and we are working on relearning old songs.

On the topic of old material, some live footage with our good friend and former bandmate, El Python has been added here ( www.myspace.com/cobranoir ). More recent material filmed in New Jersey and kindly made available by friends at Low Life Punks has also been added.

Finally, we would like to thank everyone that helped us out in January and contributed to an amazing and fulfilling tour of the northeast. Thanks for the good times.

December 28, 2006 : In a few more days another year will have elapsed.  This last fall has been an opportunity to give new impetus to old friendships and make possible new ones.  It is within that context that we released Barricades.  With Naja Sain now standing firmly in front of an 8X10 and with Chainsaw Safety as well as Yellow Dog.

2007 begins in one week for us when we start heading south for another excursion in the US of A.  See you then.

If you have time to kill, look for what may appear like shades of deep purple.  And I may not be talking about music here.

November 11, 2006 : Winter is fast approaching and days appear shorter and shorter as we approach the cold months ahead. Yet this is going to be a busy fall and winter for us. We are going to install winter tires on the van, clean up the mess we made in the vehicle this last summer, and turn the heat on to support the release of a new record.

Barricades is coming out officially this week in Europe on Yellow Dog Records (LP) and North America on Chainsaw Safety Records (CD). The two formats will be available on both sides of the Atlantic . Cobra Noir will be playing a few record release shows in Quebec and Ontario in December (see dates below). We are also going to travel south in January to play some shows on the East Coast. Details will be added to this page in the near future.

Will from Chainsaw Safety describes Barricades as “gnarled and discordant hardcore, sounding as dark and brooding as ever. Lyrically, it's a dredging bleak landscape for remnants of hope. Musically it's metallic hardcore that is not unlike earlier projects such as THE BLACK HAND. These eight new tracks continue their sinisterly dark sounding assault of heavy drudging hardcore.”

The Killed By Canada compilation came out a few weeks ago. This is a double-CD compilation with contributions from fifty Canadian bands including Career Suicide, Brutal Knights, Inepsy, Rammer, Fuck the Facts, Gunnar Hansen, CCSS, Fucked Up, Black Spokes, Saigon Distress Signal, I Hate Sally and Cursed to name but a few. Cobra Noir contributed its version of Venom's Live Like An Angel (Die Like A Devil) which was originally available only on vinyl through Dead City Records. Order the compilation though Fans Of Bad Productions ( www.myspace.com/fansofbadproductions ).

The Cobra Noir / The Holy Mountain split 7” is going to be released in the next few months. Artwork and music have been completed and will be shipped to the printing and pressing plants in the coming weeks.

September 12, 2006: Yellow Dog Records (www.yellowdog.de) and chainsaw Safety Records (www.chainsawsafetyrecords.com) are now working on getting Cobra Noir's Barricades ready for November. The album is scheduled to be released on November 14th in both North America and Europe. More shows to come this fall and winter.

In the meantime, we are playing two shows in Montreal. This coming saturday (the 16th) we are teaming up with Metalian and AIDSWolf to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Zoobizarre.  So, come and celebrate. And on the 28th of September, Cobra Noir will be sharing the floor with Born Dead Icons.  It has been a while since the band has played in the city. Come deafen yourself with us.  And get in touch if you want us to drive to your town.

September 1, 2006 : It has already been a couple of weeks since we returned from tour so I guess it is time for an update. A lot of projects materialized while we were on the road and plans are being made for the fall and the spring. First, Cobra Noir sincerely wants to thank all the amazing people who worked on this last tour with us and A Warm Gun. From the Sahara to the Black Tusk Manor to the FBK House (to name but a few), this tour has been an opportunity to meet incredible people and collectives. Needless to say, we also thank those crazy bastards from Baltimore (AWG) who survived this exhausting yet fulfilling trip across the US with us. PMA Goodman! PMA.

While we were traveling south of the border, the crew at Under Pressure ( www.underpressure.ca ) were busy putting their first Canadian hardcore compilation together. Black Eyes and Broken Bones came out in August and includes contributions by various Canadian hardcore bands including Comeback Kid, A Perfect Murder, Fucked Up, Cancer Bats, Cursed, Tears from the Sky, Final Word, and Jaws of Life. Cobra Noir's The Burial was also included on this compilation which comes with issue #12 of Under Pressure Magazine. Thanks to Dan , Jordan and everyone else at UP for this great initiative.

Cobra Noir's new full length is also ready and will be released officially in mid-November. It is with great pleasure and genuine enthusiasm that we will be collaborating with Chainsaw Safety Records (www.chainsawsafetyrecords.com) and Yellow Dog Records ( www.yellowdog.de ) for this release. Will from Chainsaw Safety will be releasing the CD in the US while Sven will release the vinyl version of the record in Europe . Our good friend Louis (aka. El Python) is also working on a micro site ( www.barricadeslp.com ) for the album. More songs will be added to the site as we approach the release date.

There are other projects and shows planned for the fall. Information concerning those will be added to this site within the next few weeks.

June 29 2006: Well this is it. We are going to be hitting the road in one week and cover a ridiculous amount of miles in a little more than 30 days. Consult the tour dates below and spread the word to help make this a successful tour. Thanks go out to everyone who has been working on this with us. Note that there is a tour kick-off party at Zoobizarre this coming Wednesday. Our good friends from Expectorated Sequence and Desperate Living will join us for the event. Be there early and stay late.

Cobra Noir's new full length has also been completed. The new material was  recorded and mixed once again by Radwan Moumneh at Montreal's Hotel 2 Tango. Barricades is scheduled to be released late in the fall and will be the product of new collaborations which we are all very enthusiastic about. Details coming soon. In the meantime visit www.barricadeslp.com for a brief sample.

The Holy Mountain / Cobra Noir split 7” is in the process of being completed. The Holy Mountain is about to begin recording new songs for the project which will be released on Cyclop Media early in the fall. This is going to be one of a series of 7”s Cyclop Media plans to release. More information will soon be available on the label's site.

So this is the last update before we lock ourselves up in our van and drive to your town to make noise. See you there.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April 22 2006: This is day number three at Montreal's Hotel 2 Tango. Nine new songs have been recorded in the last two days and the hours ahead will serve to strain our bodies and ears to their limit. With Radwan behind the board, and Bueno Boa Nault now on bass, this has been so far an excellent session. The new material should be released later in the fall.

Two of the songs from the above session will be released on 7” vinyl. Florida's The Holy Mountain will also contribute songs to this release. More details will follow. Thanks to all those who came to the shows and supported Cobra Noir and The Holy Mountain earlier this month.

The US tour is coming together. This should a pretty intense summer spent on the road with Baltimore's A Warm Gun. Email us at diecobradie@hotmail.com if you want to help with the tour or shows in Ontario and Quebec.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

March 2006: Florida's The Holy Mountain will be heading north very soon to play some shows with Cobra Noir. The two bands plan to release a split 7" together at some point in the fall. Cobra Noir also has a 7-song EP scheduled to be released in late-2006. We just finished the pre-production of 8 new songs and we are all very enthusiastic about the new material. We will once more be working with Radwan Moumneh and this time we will be recording at Montreal's Hotel 2 Tango.

The summer is also fast approaching and the band has started considering options for a full US tour. Cobra Noir will be hitting the road in early July to bring its noise to American towns and cities. The tour will last until mid-August. A Warm Gun will be accompanying us during those weeks.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

January 2006: Cobra Noir is playing shows again and we are hoping to be on the road as much as possible in the coming months. We began the new year by playing our first two shows since we returned from our summer tour last August. The AIDSwolf record launch at La Sala Rossa and the Cursed gig in Kingston were both excellent. Thanks to all those who worked on - and came to - those two shows.

Cobra Noir should be recording for an EP and other projects late this Spring but we still intend on playing more shows in Quebec and Ontario during the months of February, March, and April. Email us at
diecobradie@hotmail.com if you would like to help us out.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

November 2005: The band is currently writing new songs and practicing with a new bass player. Bueno Boa Nault has now become a permanent member of Cobra Noir and will be working with us on numerous projects. Thanks go out to Christian « christrictor » for filling in on bass this summer and helping make our summer tour possible. Christian was replacing Louis "El Python" who had been with the band since its inception.

We would like to thank El Python as well for his contributions to the band but also for working on the album's microsite. The new site is  now online at
www.abodeofthedead.com

So 2006 should be a busy year. Cobra Noir is now writing new material for an EP which should come out in the fall of next year. Cyclop Media also plans to release a Cobra Noir / The Holy Mountain split 7". The two bands will be playing shows together in April. Details will follow.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

August 2005: Cobra Noir recently returned from its first US tour.  Sincere thanks go out to all who have helped make this an amazing experience. Thank you for your support, hospitality, friendship and  dedication. The band is now working on new material and will  hopefully start playing shows again later this fall.
